Nicaragua is the largest and poorest country in Central America. With over one-third of the country without access to clean water and indoor plumbing, the people of Diriamba need aid in alleviating the water stress. Nicaragua has many sources of water although over 90% of the municipalities suffer from contamination. Through the installation of bio-sand filters in the homes of the Diriamba citizens, we are able to provide a sustainable clean water solution for a family of up to 10 with each filter. By providing a sustainable clean water solution we are able to improve the lives of entire communities. More than just improving the health of these citizens, benefits extend to the classroom, psychological, fitness, and economic growth for generations to come. Diriamba is located 35 kilometers south of Nicaragua's capital of Managua. With a population of 60,000 people living on highlands, these lands are becoming more and more high-stress water areas.
